Hi Larry, how have you been lately? Anything new?
Larry: As far as sports go, since the Lakers are out of it and the Angels are tripping all over themseves and football is a big question mark everything is pretty much on hold. Karen has cancer and its pretty hard to focus on anything else anyway. Not gonna go in to the details, it's depressing.
If there is a season, how do you anticipate the Dolphins will perform?
Larry: I'm not to sure about tony being a coach. Now that Parcells is gone I'm looking forward to see if tony has a good year with out Bill looking over his shoulder. I'm not willing to throw tony under the bus like most. He needs our support not a hanging posse!
What are some of your favorite things to watch on television?
Larry: Things to watch on television? Well, I try to stay with sitcoms, all these forensic files and police stories are too depressing to watch. I like shows like the Big Bang Theory or 2 1/2 men, some of the old All in the Family shows are funny.
What do you wish to see from Coach Sparano this season?
Larry: What i want to see out of Sparano this year is everything. I'd like to see him make some decisions on the field. Whether he has the ability to do it is yet to be seen, but I'm not gonna bad mouth the guy till he shows me he can't.
Growing up, what was the biggest prank you have ever pulled?
Larry: The biggest prank I ever did was when i was in a boys detention camp. About 4 times a day they would sound a siren and everybody had to line up for a count. We had fire buckets full of sand positioned all over camp, I convinced a new guy that they were fire alarms and when the siren sounded grab a bucket and line up with everybody. When those buckets were full of sand they weighed 30-35 pounds. When the siren went off sure enough the guy came struggling in to line up carrying a bucket. I pulled one bigger, but I can't print it.
What do you want to see at the quarterback position next year? Larry: What i expect in a QB is a team player, not one that has to carry the team by throwing 80% of the time. When you throw that much the DB's are just waiting for an errant throw. What are the simple joys in life you appreciate?
Larry: What I enjoy the most is going camping, if you want to call it camping. We have a 5th wheel trailer with all the comforts of home, but i like to sit out in the open air at night and hike in the woods by day. This is my church and I feel closer to the Lord than in his house of worship.
What is your fondest memory of being a Dolphins fan and on the flip side your worst nightmare?
Larry: The fondest memory was winning the SuperBowl 2 times in a row and possibly the first time wearing the orange jerseys and beating NE.
My worst nightmare was sending out Marino on a 62-7 loss. Don't really need to go into details other than we got stuck with Fiedler, which he has been about the best QB since Marino.
What Phinzmania member do you most relate to?
Larry: The member I most relate to is hard. IM and DolphinNorth helped me out more than anybody. I think I'd have to say Lostlobofan, I talk to him quite a bit. Marino1983 i've known the longest, I want to get up to Pennsylvania and see him one of these days.
What is your Dolphins gameday ritual? Anything special you do?
Larry: On game day, I don't have any weekly ritual other than try not to boast how the fins are gonna win, after the game, if they win I break out the flags and other stuff.
What is your fondest memory from childhood?
Larry: My fondest memory from my childhood was freedom, what kids today don't have. In the summer and on weekends we went out side after breakfast and the only rule is to be back when the street lights came on. When I was 9 years old we lived on the beach in Ventura, California. There was a big lagoon where i lived and we loved making rafts and paddling back into the trees and building a fort. Didn't have to worry about the molestation stuff.
When the Dolphins lose, how long does it take to get over it?
Larry: Unless it's a game I've gone to I'm usually over the loss by the next day. The loss they suffered in SuperBowl 17 stuck with me for a month. Really pulled some strings to get tickets for that game, then Woodley proceeded to stink up the Rose Bowl.
Describe your perfect meal.
Larry: My perfect meal would be a rare top sirloin steak, baked sweet potato w/brown sugar and butter, cheese bread and a salad w/ranch dressing.
If you had to redesign the Dolphins jerseys, what changes would you make?
Larry: I kind like the white on aqua and I'm kind partial to the orange jerseys and white pants!
