But if the Patriots are so awesome they don't need to cheat, then why were they cheating in Week 1? ...nor is it what the NFL should be marketing to the young.

I really hate these types of stories because you never know what really happened when it comes to celebrities/athletes.
I don't know if I've shared this here before but a Dolphins player that we all love was drinking at the Ale House in Davie one night and almost got into a fight with me and my friends (over shooting pool). To make a long story short, he stumbles outside, gets in his friend's Corvette, and backs straight into another patron's car. The police show up, detain him, and hold him until Nova University police get there in a glorified golf cart.
The guy who had his car hit was screaming like mad one minute, then smiling and back in the bar drinking the next. They simply paid him off and let the drunk player go back at the Fins training complex; that's how it works in the NFL (at least in S Florida in the late 90's anyway).

Yeah. Basically either a desperate cab driver saw an opportunity and made it up or exaggerated the dispute, or he got paid off to go away. Either way, it's a shame.
