Default Stadium Renovations announced

Quote:
"I bought this team because I love this town. I went to high school here and built much of my business here," said Ross. "Like most Miamians, I believe no other community in America represents a better destination for blockbuster events. My goal is to secure the future of Miami-Dade and the Dolphins so we can remain a global competitor for sports and entertainment for at least another 25 years. That's why I'm willing to make the initial and most substantial investment in this project."

Ross introduced a six-point pledge to residents of Miami-Dade, in which he committed to:

1. Approach this partnership differently than any other by investing more, pledging more, and returning more to the community and fans.

2. Ensure that private funding pays for the majority of stadium construction costs.

3. Not request a tax increase for Miami-Dade residents.

4. Create thousands of local jobs by hiring contractors, subcontractors, and vendors from Miami-Dade.

5. Create a world-class facility with improved sight lines, seats closer to the field, and an electric environment for the Dolphins, Hurricanes, bowl games, and international soccer.

6. Secure the future of the franchise by committing the Dolphins to play at a modernized Sun Life Stadium through at least 2034.

It's amazing. I think Mike Dee said the HD lighting alone was in the millions. Anyway, I'm liking Ross more and more. The above bold statements to me show a big man in town doing big things for his town. It's not the cars and yachts that you ride around in, it's what you do for the community, or others. I have to admit that I was worried when he bought the team, had Carl Peterson sniffing around, ran the orange carpet and clubs and brought in the B celebrities, while the team looked like crap. We were becoming the joke of the league (thank goodness the jets are in our very division!). But he learned, listened to his people, and toned it down, as well as nailing the Philbin hire (which is still playing out but certainly appears to be a great move).
Well, if the guy is putting up the lion's share to keep from asking for tax money from Miami, I have to say I am very impressed. If he is hiring locally as opposed to widening the search to try to find the cheapest deal through competition, I am impressed. He also seems very dedicated to keeping the team here long term. I think he knows the fans will come when the team is playing better.

Wish I could find his email.

But if the Patriots are so awesome they don't need to cheat, then why were they cheating in Week 1? ...nor is it what the NFL should be marketing to the young.

I too was a little worried at the start, but what he is saying all makes sense, and he seems to genuinely want to help the yokes. Sounds like a cracking bloke if he does what he says

AS I've stated several many times I believe he is the best owner since the early years of Joe Robbie. I know that statement will anger some but imo even those early missteps were not coming from a guy who didn't care but from a guy who cared alot yet was still learning how to be the owner he wanted to become. One can fault what he did but surely not what he was trying to do. Remember Mr. Robbie had his flubs early on also.

I love the guy and I think and feel the marrage between he and Joe Philbin wil bare us several SB wins in the coming years.

On Web Weekend, Mike Dee said that in the organization the feeling was excitement, and that they feel "Mr. Ross is our the best owner ev-". Then he cut himself off and didn't want to disrespect Joe Robbie or his accomplishments and acknowledged Robbie saying, "Well of course none of us would even be here if it were not for Mr. Robbie, but Mr. Ross has instilled that same feeling in the organization." (That's roughly what he said).
