I don't think he should nor will play this year unless he lights it up in camp and preseason. I think Moore proved his merit last year. He will be a more productive player this year. If all the "scouts" are right he really wont be ready for a year or so. He may get in later in the season depending on how your record is.

I think that they're going to rush him straight into action and it's going to be a huge mistake.

Yep, strongly agree it would be a mistake, but one thing to remember, this is NOT Tony Sparano and his band of mis-fits.

I have a feeling he sits 1 year minimum. Plain and simply, he doesn't have the experience he needs to become a starter during the regular season.
A year or two of pre-season with lots of reps in TC and during the season is what he needs.

If we start off 0-4 or even 1-3, does he get the nod then?

I agree, and it's too early to just say he should or shouldn't until we see the preseason. As of now I'd say I would be very surprised to see him near ready week 1.

This is not Cam Cameron part II, so no, that won't have any bearing on the decision to start him but only when they feel he is ready will he get inserted and then they won't pull him imv. Starting Ryan has just as much to do with how well the rest of the team plays and how the Vets view Ryan's leadership or lack there of more than anything else.

If we see a Bill Walsh type method I would guess we could start seeing Ryan take the field game one ... say during a 2 minute end of game with us ahead/behind at the goal line. The object being for him to score a TD ... good for his ego and it will endear him that much more with the vets., a win win situation!

It seems like a lot of people forget how dominant Miami was down the stretch last year with Matt Moore at the helm....sure, we were a 6-10 team but Matt took over at 0-8. I personally haven't looked at the schedule yet so I don't even know who our 1st four opponents are, but unless we just got a horrible draw then I'm expecting a 2-2 start minimum.

I take that back....we have all 1PM games at home this year and that's Miami's secret weapon under any coach. If we don't go 3-1, I'll be disappointed. Of course, I still haven't seen the schedule but at least we're playing to our strengths.

imo he has too much to learn to be ready, so I don't think he should start, will he be crowbarred in? I hope not.

We start off with Houston at home. Much can change but that looks like a tough first game. After that it looks easier...again, much can change. I have stickied the 2012 schedule and there's a link below as well.

I remember week 17 pretty clearly. Moore played well and only seemed to get better as the year went on. Without Marshall being double covered he might not do as well but either way he earned the starting spot until Tanny proves he is better. Like I said I do not follow college ball much but from what I have read he probably is not NFL ready. Although how many times are the "experts" wrong? Either way.... In the words of Bart Scott.... Can't Wait!!

I would give the first round pick every chance possible to come out of camp as the clear No.1.
I understand the opposite opinion when it comes to rookie QBs in this league. Sit them down and allow them time to learn behind a veteran. And that seems to be the idea with NFL analysts when it comes to Tannehill.
Quote:
Thatís fine. But tell me how he gets better if he isnít given that fair shot at the job? Run the scout team in the regular season? Come on. Thatís not good enough. I know what the scout team is all about. Run ďcardsĒ (opposing team plays drawn up on cards) and make the first team offense and defense look really good throughout the week.
Translation for a rookie QB: throw picks in practiceólots of them.
Quote:
By the end of August, the rookie might not even be a part of the QB discussion in Miami.
But I like the idea that the Dolphins will give him that opportunity to come out on top. Let him compete. Thatís what I would do.
Joe Philbin says the best guy wins the job, I'll trust his call on this issue, whatever the case! I like it.

Only start him when he is absolutely ready. If that takes just one offseason, or a full year, fine by me.

Dont rush the guy in until he is ready. We have Garrard and Moore who can be the 1 and 2 this year if Tannehill isnt ready.

Personally, even if he is ready, Id prefer to let him learn the entire year from the bench and start off as the QB next year come the first week of preseason.

Tannehill will decide when he's ready. I want him to have Danny's fire and WANT TO get in the game and play well.
