Default Tyrell Johnson signs - Miami ain't so bad!

It seems we got some love.

Free agent safety Tyrell Johnson, signed Thursday after four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, doesn't agree. He said his visit in Miami on Monday went well. He said he "felt comfortable" with Miami's coaches. And he disagrees Miami is a bad place to continue a career.

He was a second rounder in 2008. Started 15 games in 2009. Battling injuries since then (recent hamstring surgery). Let's hope he holds up and helps us. He should be Bell's replacement.

He'll compete to start from what I'm reading. He basically rules out a return of Bell most likely. 1 year deal so he'll be playing his ass off. If he stays healthy he has everything to gain this year.

I hope he does well for us. With what Kevin Coyle did for Cincinnati with Chris Crocker and Gibril Wilson, I can imagine he can do a lot with and for our DBs.

That's true, and who was the other safety besides Crocker who was thought to maybe come here? HE did well under Croyle also after not being very good before that. Good coaches know how to get the most from their guys by good teaching, and planning to their strengths. Kind of what M2C said on another thread about Thomas.

If thats the case Im excited to see how davis and smith respond. they were already good when healthy so maybe this guy can coach them up to be a great tandem....im looking forward to the draft and then the season.

Or Jimmy Wilson and Davis might be coached up to be a great tandem. Smith may become a safety. He's big enough and fast enough. Maybe he just needs to face the play and run to the tackle instead of trying to cover WR's from the LOS.

It's a shame Bell is gone... One of the most consistant players at any position on this team... And of course now it looks like New England is going to scoop him up.... which sucks of course.... well except it Bell deserves to play
