I had to go back and double check. Those numbers for Poe are almost unbelieveable for someone that size. Although, I try not to get too caught up in combine numbers, especially if a guy doesnt show it on tape.

However, if a guy shows it on tape, and backs it up at the combine, thats a different story.

He’s probably the best talent I’ve seen in several years,” said the assistant. “He took plays off and wasn’t a great effort guy, but he is a freakish talent.”

Feldman suggested that most oversized defensive linemen take some snaps off.

“Yeah,” the coach conceded. “But he took off more than most. He did get better last year than he was the year before. He just was never that productive, but I heard they didn’t require him to do that much. He was definitely someone I took into account with schemes. … I’m not at all surprised to hear that he’s blowing up at the Combine, at all.”

Poe started 30 games in college, racking up 21 1/2 tackles for loss, five sacks, and seven forced fumbles. The C-USA coaches voted him second-team all-conference in 2011.

Not happening. Everyone has already said that Poe is gonna be a 3-4 guy and he not worth a 8th round pick. Best thing for Miami is to trade down and pick up a safety, OLB, DE, OLine, or a WR in the first.

This reminds me of the Darryl Gardener situation, a freak who took a lot of plays off in college and if it wasn't for his bad back he was becoming a dominant player.

That's the beauty of it though because the #2 pick is currently up for grabs and there's almost definitely a franchise QB waiting at that position. I've also said over the past few years to trade down but that's because there was never a legitimate need that could be gained by holding our pick.

This year is certainly different because we want a QB and a sensational one can be had vs trading down or selecting an offensive or defensive lineman. Like I've said before, our offensive line was impressive down the stretch and switching to a 4-3 is not as much of a priority as getting a great long-term offensive weapon like Luck or RG3.

We have a decent ground game and our receivers are solid. The defense, as a whole, closed the season strong. We have holes but certainly not like in the past....we need to take this gamble.

You know, part of me wishes Miami would move to a 4-3 defense, resign Paul Soliai, and draft Dontari Poe to play alongside him. It would be reminiscent of Tim Bowens and Daryl Gardener.

And then we can run the Pro 4-3.
